Micro Laser Peel

What is a Micro Laser Peel?

The Micro Laser Peel is the newest tool in the fight against aging. This innovative laser treatment has been developed for those of us who live a busy life and are looking to improve our skin's texture, color, and tone. Sometimes referred to as the "weekend peel" the Micro Laser peel can treat a wide range of skin conditions with results being visible within a few days. This skin resurfacing technique leaves you looking revitalized and allows you to reveal the inner you.

By using a Sciton laser, the Micro Laser Peel, utilizes precision Erbium and CO2 lasers that easily removes the outermost layers of skin to provide the perfect depth of rejuvenation. Fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, irregular pigmentation, and sun-damaged skin can all be treated through this safe and effective treatment option.

Micro Laser Peel

What is a Micro Laser Peel treatment session like?

Our clinician will conduct a Micro Laser Peel using a specially designed laser-resurfacing device that can safely and accurately remove the outermost layers of skin to the specific depth that your skin condition requires. This individualized treatment plan works on your specific needs and goals to achieve maximum results in a short period of time with less skin irritation and swelling than other laser treatments.

Depending upon the depth of treatment our clinician may recommend a topical anesthetic be applied 30-45 minutes before treatment.

Why should I receive a Micro Laser Peel instead of another laser treatment?

The advanced technology of the Sciton laser allows us to individualize the treatment plan for each and every patient coming in. Conventional CO2 and Erbium lasers do not contain the technology to create the same level of customization.

Another extremely important difference between conventional laser systems and the lasers used in a Micro Laser peel is the healing time needed after treatment. The healing time from a Micro Laser Peel is a fraction of the healing time required of conventional laser resurfacing. The reason for this is because the treatment causes only minimal tissue damage, which results in less sloughing, less oozing, and much less swelling than other treatment options.

Micro Laser Peel

How many Micro Laser Peels are needed for optimal results?

Like most cosmetic treatments this depends greatly on the skin condition being treated. For many patients results are achieved within two to five peels. However, this can be determined through a consultation visit where you can discuss what you would like treated and what results you hope to gain through treatment.

In general minimal peels (10-20 microns) can be received at four to six week intervals. Deeper peels can be received at six month to one-year intervals until optimal results are achieved.

How long does it take to heal from a Micro Laser Peel?

For most patients receiving a 10- to 30 laser micro peel it usually takes between three and five days to heal. You can have a peel done on Friday and be back to work Monday without anyone knowing a thing.

Immediately after treatment many patients report symptoms that closely resemble sunburn. By the second day following treatment, darkening and minor sloughing may occur; and within three days redness and peeling should begin to fade. By day 5 any remaining signs of treatment can be easily covered with makeup.

Is a Micro Laser Peel right for me?

A Micro Laser Peel is right for anyone who wants smoother, healthier, more vibrant skin that appears tighter, and younger.

Women who are pregnant, patients with a history of radiation therapy, or have taken Accutane within the last two years should not receive a Micro Laser peel. Patients with a history of cold sores should be aware that this procedure would slightly raise the risk of a scar complication.

We recommend combining the microlaser peel with IPL, called the "South Beach Peel", for optimal results for sun damage and hyperpigmentation.
